Some/one of the 18 carved Pou (poles) standing in Hastings Civic Square, New Zealand. Each Pou represent Tupuna (an ancestor) from the different Marae in the Heretaunga district and was carved by a representative of that Marae. The Pou are carved from totara timber under the guidance of master carvers, Dr Takirirangi Smith and Taka Walker.
