Built probably in 1936 as the Residence of the Administrator of Liquiçá, the building originally had 2 storeys. However, it was destroyed by fire and re-built at an unknown date. The building served as the residence of the Bupati during the Indonesian period and as the headquarters of UNTAET between 1999 and 2003.
