Hoa Binh is on the Da River 74km southwest of Hanoi and was the largest hydroelectric plant in Southeast Asia at completion and for about 20yrs thereafter. The complex includes a 128m high, 670m long rockfill dam, an underground powerhouse, and an underground transformer hall. Construction began in Nov 1979.
